PASMA Towers on Stairs
Stepped, stairway, towers on stairs etc.. people call them many different things but generally want them to do a similar thing, it’s a tower designed to be used on a staircase or in a stairwell, where access is often awkward or risky. However what people don’t often realise is that they can be used for Sloping ground Stepped ground or even in cinemas and lecture theatres where the ends of the tower need to be at different levels.
These units are able to make painting and decorating, maintenance and repair jobs a lot safer than previous methods. Because of their flexibility we see people using these ranging from decorators to theatre staff, university maintenance crews to acoustic wall installers in cinemas etc.

Will equip you with the specialist knowledge you need to work safely with mobile access towers on Stairs, sloped and stepped surfaces. This 1 Day course can be carried out in person at one of our approved PASMA training centres or on any of your sites with one of our PASMA approved and audited instructors. You can then go back to work knowing you can confidently
- Safely assemble, dismantle and Alter towers on stairs or stepped and sloped surfaces
- Safely use Stairwell towers
- Inspect and Tag Stairwell Tower units
- Correctly and accurately identify hazards relating to their use
- Understand legislation, regulations and guidance that are applicable to these specialist units
With a balanced combination of theoretical and practical work, this course builds on your existing tower knowledge by introducing new techniques, such as the use of ballast and wall props to additionally stabilise the units. You’ll be introduced to new advanced components, such as portal frames. Also you’ll learn about the different safe working load capabilities of these types of tower units and the staircases they can be used on

This course is suitable for anyone who will be using towers on stairs or stepped/sloped surfaces at home or at work and has already completed Towers for Users, including:
- Those who have never used Stairwell towers before.
- Those who use them currently but don’t have an official qualification
- Those working towards Access Tower Specialist status
- Those refreshing their qualification or renewing an expired card
- Those wanting to update an existing Towers For Users Qualification.
Your training instructor will give you an electronic or printed copy of the course notes and a PASMA Code of Practice that you can refer back to.
On successfully completing the theory and practical segments of the course, you’ll receive a new PASMA PhotoCard and Certificate that includes this qualification. You’ll see a new category on your card, ‘A5’ which means you’re now trained to build Towers on stairs/stepped/sloped surfaces.
