PASMA dismayed at demolition worker’s fall from tower

Feb 18, 2016 | HSE News, PASMA News

As the trade body for mobile access towers, PASMA has expressed serious concern that yet again a preventable accident has caused injury – this time to a demolition worker – who fell from a tower.

As originally reported in a Health and Safety Executive (HSE) press release dated 1 December 2015, DSR Demolition Limited was fined £5,000 following pleading guilty to breaching the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The incident – which took place in Hillington industrial Estate, Glasgow on 30 December 2011 – saw the 50-year-old worker suffer a fractured elbow and left arm along with bruising to his head. The worker was thrown off balance and fell after a cable tray swung down from the ceiling and hit him in the shin.
